What if your hero was a bad, dark man? That's Charlie in a nutshell. He's a hired killer with a special set of skills. He doesn't think he's good enough to be worthy of anything, but oh is he wrong in Vera's eyes... Vera + Charlie are perfection. They are so right for each other in every way. Vera is a girl from the wrong side of Louisiana who nearly always finds herself in the wrong situations, which is how they cross each other's paths. Charlie gets a call during a job from a friend calling in a favor and that is when his fate is sealed. He doesn't think a girl is worthy of calling in a debt, but he hasn't met Vera yet.

 My only complaint is this novella was too short! Took me like 30 minutes to read the whole thing!! I'll definitely be looking into more of Mary Catherine Gebhard's novels. This whole bad boy genre has caught my attention now, so I need more!
