Review

Tristan was a heartmeltingly beautiful story! His slow burn love story will set you aflame as you read. It's rare, I find, to read a book in which the man is the one carrying the torch for the woman of his dreams and waiting for the right time for her. I absolutely could not put this novel down. I've been waiting for Tristan's story ever since I read the first in the Bachelors of the Ridge series, Dylan. Tristan is broody and mostly mysterious, yes, but so swoony! He was well worth the wait, and I hope you all love him as much as I did! Anna is a lucky girl, and deserves a man like Tristan after all the shit she's had to put up with for the previous almost decade. I'm so glad they found each other finally! <3

There's one thing you should know about Tristan Whitfield: he’s been in love with Anna for years.
There are two problems with that: she has no idea, and she's married. Or at least, she was.
Anna Callahan knows three things about her brother’s friend, Tristan: he's quiet, incredibly handsome, and has a smolder that could set the room on fire.
For years, it wasn’t difficult for Anna to overlook all of that. But when Tristan is the solution to a work problem that could derail her career, he is anything but easy to ignore.
To Tristan, the fact that the object of his affection is suddenly single means he should tread lightly. Be the friend she needs until she’s ready for more and hope the risk pays off.
Because it'll add up to the one thing he wants: her.

"Tristan isn't just angsty or emotional. It's absolutely spellbinding. From the first word to the very last, I was hooked. An epic finale to one of my favorite romance series ever." - Bestselling Author Kandi Steiner
"I devoured this book in one sitting. Karla hit every emotion imaginable. I got mad, I laughed, I cried, my heart ached, and by the end, it was filled with joy. Tristan's story is the perfect ending to an incredible series." - Author Kathryn Andrews

Well, let’s see ... I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone's face, then I've done my job. I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I'll love you forever.

Review: A House for Happy Mothers

A House for Happy Mothers A House for Happy Mothers by Amulya Malladi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a heart-wrenchingly beautiful novel. Having never experienced the desire to be a mother, I couldn't empathise with Priya, but still had many feelings throughout the story. I could not imagine wanting something so badly that I went to such great lengths, but I also feel sympathy for those who must go this route for any reason. I think surrogacy is a beautiful thing and mutually beneficial, albeit highly emotional and controversial. The topic was made even more powerful by Asha's story against the background of Indian poverty. It was interesting to explore the thoughts and emotions of a character who isn't entirely on board with what she's doing, but feels obligated to do it anyway due to her circumstances. I enjoyed that the women did have a connection to each other, but felt Asha was more bitter than necessary. Though, it was also very refreshing to have a character that wasn't entirely selfless.

Review: Shining Sea

Shining Sea Shining Sea by Mimi Cross
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Throughout most of this novel I was extremely confused, but also intrigued. I wanted to figure out what was going on and thought I had enough to make my own conclusions several times, but was quickly corrected when I discovered the truth. I thoroughly enjoyed not being able to figure out every twist and turn. Not a huge fan of the story ending, but the writing and plot was very good, so I have to give 5 stars. I would have written a different ending, given the chance. The romance side of the novel was way different than in books I usually read. It was sort of a nice change, but I still feel like there was so much left to be tied up at the end. I still wonder if there will be a book 2...
Either way, most of the characters were realistic and I loved a lot of them. The writing is immersive and the story interesting. I would highly recommend this novel.

Review: Purgatory's Angel

Purgatory's Angel Purgatory's Angel by B. Hughes-Millman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was absolutely riveted from page 1. I'm not a believer in Christian mythology, but I've always loved fallen angel fantasies. The build-up was one of the best I've read in awhile, and gave only enough detail to keep you from scratching your head too much. The detail was stellar and the plot was interesting and unique. Jaime, a dark angel, is among the strongest of her kind, but she struggles with the way she feels about what she does. Then, one night she has a strange dreamwalk that makes no sense and she begins to realise that not everything is as she's expected for the decades she's been hunting. She begins wondering who can she trust in this world to keep her safe. I would absolutely read this all over again, and cannot wait to get my hands on book 2!

Review: Forged in Desire

Forged in Desire Forged in Desire by Brenda Jackson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I wasn't a fan. The romance aspect of the novel was way too drawn out for me and there wasn't enough about the other bits in the beginning for it to really get me excited. The first few pages really drew me in, but as soon as Striker and Margo began living together I got bored. I liked the ending, though.
